Short Courses
APSA offers short courses on the Wednesday prior to the start of the Annual Meeting. Short courses are half or full-day sessions that provide diverse opportunities for professional development and offer attendees the chance to connect with scholars from a range of backgrounds. Sponsored and organized by APSA organized sections, related groups, and other non-APSA affiliated organizations, short courses are held on the Annual Meeting premises unless otherwise noted. Locations, registration, and other details are all handled by the organizers themselves. To participate in a short course, you must register for it prior to the Annual Meeting. If you have questions about particular short courses, contact the organizer directly. Organizer contact information is detailed in the course description. 2009 Short Course ScheduleSC 2 Designing and Conducting Field Research SC 3 Coding the Blogosphere: Introducing the Coding and Blog Analysis Toolkits SC 4 The Toronto Tea Party: LGBT Challenges and Strategies in Political Science SC 5 Approaching Visual Images: Photography, Politics, & Political Science SC 6 Library 2.0: Knowledge, Power, and Pedagogy in Net Space -- Evolving Collaborations and Roles SC 7 Tools for Middle-sized Data Projects SC 8 New Challenges, New Opportunities: The CSES and EES Data Sets SC 9 A Taste for Sovereignty: Global and Local Change in the New Politics of Food SC 10 Cities, Climate Change, and Multilevel Governance SC 11 Addressing Challenges in Teaching Traditional, Hybrid, and OnLine American Government Courses SC 12 Latino Politics Workshop SC 13 Getting a Job at a Teaching Institution -- and Succeeding!
