Task Force on Mentoring
The APSA Council has established a Task Force on Mentoring to provide advice and assistance with mentoring members of the profession, and to focus especially on the needs of women and minorities.
AAUP Adopts Policy on Contingent Faculty Appointments
44.5 percent of all faculty are part-time, and non-tenure-track positions account for more than 60 percent of all faculty appointments in American higher education. With this in mind, the governing Council of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) adopted a policy statement, Contingent Appointments and the Academic Profession, which addresses the increasing overreliance on part-time and non-tenure-track faculty that threatens the quality and stability of higher education and the academic professions capacity to serve the public good.
