The American Political Science Review is the foremost scholarly journal of the discipline, presenting research articles by political scientists from all subfields.   Areas covered include political theory, American politics, public policy, public administration, comparative politics, and international relations.  Articles in APSR are more frequently cited than any other journal in political science an are cited more consitently over a longer period of time.

Mechanical Requirements

Publication printed offset. Halftones accepted. Supply the art/advertisements in the following options:

  • Camera Ready Art
    Art may be enlarged or reduced proportionally to fit. Please keep in mind that enlarging camera ready art will affect quality.

  • Negatives
    Negatives accepted to size; 133 line screen, right reading emulsion down. Supply two sets for two-page spreads.

  • Electronic Files 
    Disks will be accepted provided that they are supplied in Quark Express or Pagemaker (PC or Mac platforms). If supplying a disk, include screen and printer fonts. Failure to include fonts will delay process or result in alternation charges. You may also submit advertising in PDF format and deliver via email or disk.

Dates

The closing dates for insertion orders and camera-ready copy are as follows:
February issue - December 15
May issue - March 17
August issue - June 16
November issue - September 15

Frequency Rates

  • Receive a year of advertising in APSR--buy 3 ads and get the 4th FREE. Individual billing at the 4x rate is granted to advertisers who guarantee four consecutive insertions of the same size within a twelve month period. Different divisions of the same company may combine to qualify for the 4x rate.
  • Receive a year of advertising in all APSA journals (APSR, Perspectives on Politics and PS)--buy 10 ads and get 2 FREE (one ad per issue, four times per journal).
  • Receive half a year of advertising in all APSA journals--buy the first 5 consecutive ads in the year and get the 6th ad for FREE (two ads in each of the three APSA journals).

Advertisers who do not make the consecutive insertions upon which their billing is based will be invoiced for the missing insertions. Contracts extending over more than one calendar year will be billed at the contract rate in effect during each calendar year. Interested? Contact the advertising manager for details.

Agency Discount

APSA allows 15% of gross billing to recognized advertising agencies. In-house advertising departments are not eligible for the discount. Agency insertions orders on behalf of the advertiser must be received by closing dates in order to receive the agency discount. Agency discount may not be offered in conjunction with promotional or other special discounts.

Payment

Payment in full is due 30 days from the date of invoice. Advertisers are invoiced at the end of each quarter for online advertising.
