General Information:

Details and registration forms for the MANECCS/SACS Joint Conference will be available on www.maneccs.org and www.southerncanstudies.org. Registration for the four-day conference is $125 (if received before September 2, 2008) and $165 (if received after September 2, 2008). There is a special student registration fee of $50 per day or $95 for the conference.

The Holiday Inn at the Key Bridge Rosslyn will serve as the conference site. It is located at 1900 North Fort Myer Drive in Arlington, Virginia (3 miles from Reagan National Airport). The hotel is less than a block from the Rosslyn Metro and only a 10-15 minute walk across the Key Bridge to the shops and restaurants of Georgetown and from there the major Washington, D.C. attractions. Additionally, there is express shuttle service between the Rosslyn Station and Georgetown. The hotel has an indoor pool, fitness center and two onsite restaurants, including one located on the top floor with a breathtaking view of Washington, D.C. Wireless high speed internet access is available throughout the hotel. Complimentary indoor parking with a six foot clearance is provided. The conference room rate is $159 plus tax per day. Young Scholars Program Information:

We would like to invite graduate students or junior faculty members with a research interest in any aspect of Canadian politics to present their academic papers at the 2008 Middle Atlantic & New England Council for Canadian Studies (MANECCS) and Southern Association for Canadian Studies (SACS) Joint Conference. The Conference will be held October 2–5, 2008, in Washington, DC.

To help offset conference participants’ travel costs, MANECCS has established the Young Scholars Grant Program. The Program will award at least six grants of a maximum US$500 per grant to successful proposal applicants.
