eJOBS PLACEMENT SERVICE

What is the eJobs Placement Service?  The eJobs Placement Service is a service for employers and candidates to arrange interviews at political science association conferences around the US and throughout the year.  In the months preceding the APSA Annual Meeting and other participating political science conferences, eJobs accepts information about employers and candidates who are available for interviews during the conferences and makes it available to employer and candidate attendees. Users scan the eJobs database for candidates/employers attending a particular meeting.  Participants coordinate interviews in advance of the conference.  Depending on the association/conference, interview space may be specified in the conference hotel.

APSA Annual Meeting Placement Service is popular feature of the APSA's conference, which attracts hundreds of potential job candidates and employers.  Employers from across the United States are matched with qualified political scientists seeking positions,  The APSA Annual Meeting Placement Service is offered at no charge to job candidates and to members of the APSA Departmental Services Program. Non-member employers will be charged the $50 registration fee in addition to the regular eJobs fee for listing their job online.

Other political science association conference placement services? The participating associations implement the Placement Service in varying ways.  Some offer interview space, some do not.  Regardless, all have requested that APSA include their conferences as an option in the eJobs database.  Registrants should contact the sponsoring association DIRECTLY for details about interview space and facilities.

Will there be access to the eJobs database at the meeting?

For the APSA Annual Meeting: Yes. There will be a limited number of computers on site for use by employers and job candidates. However, there will be NO paper copies of resumes or jobs listings available. We encourage you to review the computer listings before you arrive onsite as there will be a maximum usage time per computer per use.

For other political science associations: Varies, contact the association directly for details.

Can I register onsite at the meeting?

APSA Annual Meeting: Candidates: No.  Candidates must register BEFORE the meeting. Employers: Yes, but not recommended.  Employers may register at the meeting, though it is strongly encouraged that they register before arriving and schedule interviews in advance.

As an employer, must I send a representative to the meeting to participate in the Placement Service? No. You may choose only to register a job with the placement service without sending a representative. By registering you make your job available for viewing by all job candidates. It also allows you to review the pool of candidates available. Should promising candidates reply to your position posting you may choose to make arrangements for an interview away from the placement service.

What if I am registered for the Placement Service and can't to the meeting? Users can at any time edit their job listing(s) or resume. If you have arranged an interview, it is you responsibility to inform the employer or candidate that you will not be present.

Can employers and candidates contact candidates before attending the Placement Service? Yes! We encourage it.  The Placement Service works best when candidates and employers set up interviews before the meeting.

EMPLOYERS: Do I need to reserve a table/interview space for interviewing in advance of the conference?

APSA Annual Meeting Placement Service: Yes. If you are registered for the service, APSA will contact you before the meeting to reserve a table for the days and times you intend to interview.
