eJOBS PLACEMENT SERVICE

The eJobs Placement Service is a service for employers and candidates to arrange interviews at the APSA Annual Meeting.  In the months preceding the meeting, eJobs accepts information about employers and candidates who are available for interviews during the conferences and makes it available to employer and candidate attendees. They can scan the eJobs database for attending candidates/employers.  Participants coordinate interviews in advance of the conference.  Depending on the association/conference, interview space may be specified in the conference hotel.

The Placement Service attracts hundreds of potential job candidates and employers.  Employers from across the United States are matched with qualified political scientists seeking positions,  The APSA Annual Meeting Placement Service is offered at no charge to job candidates and to members of the APSA Departmental Services Program. Non-member employers will be charged the $50 registration fee in addition to the regular eJobs fee for listing their job online.

Will there be access to the eJobs database at the meeting?

For the APSA Annual Meeting: Yes. There will be a limited number of computers on site for use by employers and job candidates. However, there will be NO paper copies of resumes or jobs listings available. We encourage you to review the computer listings before you arrive onsite as there will be a maximum usage time per computer per use.

For other political science associations: Varies, contact the association directly for details.

Can I register onsite at the meeting? Candidates must register BEFORE the meeting. Employers may register at the meeting, though it is strongly encouraged that they register before arriving and schedule interviews in advance.

As an employer, must I send a representative to the meeting to participate in the Placement Service? No. You may choose only to register a job with the placement service without sending a representative. By registering you make your job available for viewing by all job candidates. It also allows you to review the pool of candidates available. Should promising candidates reply to your position posting you may choose to make arrangements for an interview away from the placement service.

What if I am registered for the Placement Service and can't attend the meeting? If you have arranged an interview, it is you responsibility to inform the employer or candidate that you will not be present.  Additionally, employers should notify APSA at ejobs@apsanet.org that they will not use the interview space.

Can employers and candidates contact candidates before attending the Placement Service? Yes! We encourage it.  The Placement Service works best when candidates and employers set up interviews before the meeting.
