Teaching about Terrorism after 9/11 and Iraq

Civic education and political action has increased on campuses following the tragedies in New York and Washington, and the ensuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Questions being raised include: are students more interested in how our country is managed; have students become more proactive in protecting their rights and the rights of other citizens in the wake of the Patriot Acts and other counterterrorism legislation; and are students paying more attention to foreign events given the monumental actions taken by U.S. forces abroad in recent years?

The following resources offer some insight on these questions as well as helpful information related to the events related to and following September 11, 2001. These resources should be useful in formulating thoughtful classroom discussion of terrorism and international and domestic policy.
