Founded in 2012, the objectives of COMICIP are to:

• Encourage and disseminate research on topics and problems related to political science and propose feasible solutions.
• Promote the professionalization of the discipline.
• Organize national summits and academic meetings.
• Represent Mexican political science in international forums. 
• Create, organize, and direct a Mexican Political Science Journal
• Foster links between those who study political science within Mexico and those who study Political Science abroad
