Sage/CQ Press Award
The Sage/CQ Press Award honors both research-based projects and those that may involve activism that has focused on advancing social justice and addressing inequality and inequity in society. The award is presented yearly at the APSA Annual Meeting and carries a cash prize of $2,000.
Nomination Information
Eligibility:
- Self-nominations are accepted. Nominees do not have to be members of APSA, affiliated with an institution in the United States, or an American citizen in order to be considered.
- In order to be eligible for the award, nominees must have completed a Ph.D. in political science.
- Contributions eligible for this award should be a single project or body of work of outstanding impact, i.e., teaching, research, scholarship or public-facing engagement that demonstrates a focus on non-partisan strategies, policy solutions or best practices for achieving social justice, equality, and equity within society.
- Eligible works includes both research-based projects and those that may involve activism, consistent with APSA’s mission
- Nominations are welcome from across all political science fields and topics, including race, ethnicity and politics, anti-racist approaches, indigenous politics, disability and accessibility, human rights, gender and LGBTQ politics, class and social welfare policy, etc.
- All submissions should include:
- Personal statement (written by the nominee) detailing the work, its impact, and why said work deserves this honor.
- Letter of nomination from nominating faculty (if relevant), briefly summarizing the political science work addressing inequality, its impact, and explaining why it deserves this honor.
- Other supporting documents of relevance (these may include but are not limited to CV, resume, project description(s), syllabi and course materials, research paper, policy paper, publication, public or community collaboration, etc.).
