APSA Committee on the Status of LGBT Individuals Travel Grants
The APSA Committee on the Status of LGBT Individuals in the Profession is interested in creating conference participation opportunities for those at institutions with limited access to resources.
The 2026 APSA Annual Meeting will be held in-person September 3- 6 in Boston, MA. This cycle of grants will support individuals who register and attend the event.
Travel Grants: Grants will be awarded to support the cost of travel to the Annual Meeting. Expenses include mileage for attendees who travel by car or plane tickets for attendees who will travel by air. Travel grants can also include hotel costs, meals, on-site and conference related wifi, and cab/ridesharing costs.
Priority will be given to applicants with accepted paper or poster presentations, or individuals attending APSA to engage in service on LGBT-related committees/sections. Individuals who are participating as chairs and discussants are still eligible to apply.
Award Conditions and Details
Grants will not exceed $300 per awardee. Grantees are required to register for the Annual Meeting. Grant funds may not be used to cover Annual Meeting registration expenses.
Grant funds will be paid as a one-time electronic check (direct deposit) to the respective awardee in advance of the Annual Meeting. Awardees will be required to submit a W9 form and ACH form to the APSA office for payment.

Asian Pacific Americans Status Committee Scholarship Travel Grants
The primary goal of the APSA Committee on the Status of Asian Pacific Americans Scholarship is to encourage and support conference travel and research on Asian/Asian American politics, fields related to Asian/Asian American politics, and/or topics of concern to Asian/Asian American communities. All are welcome to apply; applications from students and contingent faculty will prioritized. Grants will not exceed $500.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be eligible to apply, applicants must either:
- Study or research Asian/Asian American politics, or
- Study or research in a field related to Asian/Asian American politics, or
- Have a research focus that is a topic of political or public policy interest or concern to Asian/Asian American communities.
Eligible Travel Grant Expenses:
- Travel grants will be awarded to support the cost of travel to the Annual Meeting, or at a different scholarly conference.
- Expenses include mileage for attendees who travel by car or plane tickets for attendees who will travel by air. Travel grants can also include hotel costs, meals, on-site and conference related wifi, and cab/ridesharing costs.
Eligible Research Expenses:
- Research grants will be awarded to support eligible research topics.
- Expenses include: access to data or archival records, paying undergraduate or graduate student research assistants, purchasing statistical software to facilitate research; costs associated with manuscript preparation, travel for fieldwork or research site visits, and professional development activities (such skills or methods training acquisition).
