What is Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is the global celebration of philanthropy and generosity occurring the Tuesday following Thanksgiving as a way to kick off the giving season. This year, Giving Tuesday is December 3.

How YOU can make an impact

One of the best ways to get involved on Giving Tuesday is to make a charitable donation to APSA. On this single day, you know that your gift is being combined with the powerful gifts of hundreds of donors just like you. Please give a gift of any amount by December 3, 2019 by clicking the link below.

Through October 24, supporters of political science are invited to participate in #GiveAPSA, the year-end fundraising effort in one or more of the following ways:

  • When you shop online, start at smile.amazon.com and set American Political Science Association as your designated charity. It’s the same Amazon you know, but with a donation built in. Amazon will donate to APSA at no extra cost to you!

  • Take advantage of employer-matched giving. To find out if your workplace will match your gift to APSA, please talk with your Human Resources Department. You can double the value of your donation to APSA.

  • Lead a Fundraiser. From your Facebook newsfeed, click “create” and select “Fundraiser.” Type in “American Political Science Association” and Facebook will start your fundraiser.

  • Post about your gift to APSA. Use the hashtag #GiveAPSA on social media, share your reason for giving, and invite your friends to give as well.dsfdfdsfhdsnkjfhkjdshjf

  •

Create your legacy

Ensure a vibrant future for political scientists by including a gift to APSA in your estate plan. Anyone

can make a gift and there is no minimum amount.

The most common gifts from donors to APSA are:

A bequest in a will or trust

Feel free to adapt our suggested language with your attorney:

“I give _____% of my estate (or $_____ ) to American Political Science Association, Tax ID 53-0200001.”

We are happy to work with you and your attorney if you are considering a bequest for a specific purpose. If you already have a will and want to make a gift, a simple codicil can be added. Prewritten language is available here.

Naming APSA as a beneficiary

You can also designate APSA as a beneficiary of your:

  • Retirement accounts
  •   Life Insurance Policy
  • Bank and Investment accounts
  • Donor Advised Funds

Simply request a beneficiary designation form from your bank or plan administrator and write in “American Political Science Association” as the beneficiary.
